Accidental Icon: Spring On the Fringe
I am not one to usually follow trends. In fact, I have been very adamant about not liking all the 70’s references in the last two season’s collections. The references of course make me feel nostalgic, perhaps jolts awake the dozing rebel within, (especially when I am listening to Jim Morrison and the Doors) but I have to say I am in no mood to feel or look like a teenager again. The current references speak only to the fun we had, not the seriousness of the issues we tackled, the ones that made us grown-ups.
The one 70’s reference done up for Spring 2015 in a flirty and artistic way is fringe. I love fringe, the way it slinks around or moves in a slow seductive circle around my body. Fringe seems to always appear when women want a change. There were looks in the Spring 2015 collections that allowed bohemian girls to become sophisticated women. Proenza Schouler, Alberta Ferretti and Isabel Marant to name a few. For more elegant fringe looks see my Pinterest board: Accidental Icon Spring 2015 On the Fringe.
So for today’s photos and to welcome Spring, I decided to make fringe my statement piece.
