This is the second post of my white shirt and jeans self-challenge. I chose to go with what I might describe as my Japanese version of “dark romance”. The white asymmetrical shirt surprises with a tail of knife edge pleats, softened by the loose cut and high neck. Issey Miyake pieces add drama and darkness and my galaxy earrings signify my journey through a new time and geography. I also wore the jacket upside down because I wanted it to seem as if I had feathers and wings. High waisted jeans in deep indigo match the moodiness of the scene and sexy Hermes sandals with kitten heels complete the somewhat coquettish quality of the total look.

Someone asked me recently if I always loved fashion. I think it started very early as I always loved playing with dolls. I was more interested in changing their clothes and putting together outfits for them than pretending they were my baby. I was also obsessed with paper dolls for the same reason. My grandmother, fashion icon that she was, started me on a collection of Madame Alexander dolls. For some reason when I look at myself in this series of posts a modern Madame Alexander doll comes to mind.
